KCOTN’s 2026-2027 Officers Elected

KCOTN elected club officers for 2026-2027 officers at the May 12th 2026, meeting. The current year officers have agreed to stay on for another year of leading our club.
Elected were:

• Sam Caley – President
• Dave Logan – Vice President
• Board Members – Richard Flickinger, Bill O’Connor, and Duane Washkowiak

Nicci Poeschel will remain as Immediate Past President.
President Sam will appoint the secretary/treasurer at the first meeting of the new Board of Directors for the new Kiwanis’ year.

Get Ready for the
2026 Southwest District Convention
in
Albuquerque, NM

Kiwanis Southwest District will be holding its annual convention in Albuquerque, NM from August 7th through August 9th at the Albuquerque Marriott North, 5151 Sam Franciso Road NE.
Funding is available for Nuevo members to attend.
One of the changes occurring this year is that the traditional Ellis Brown Silent Auction Supporting the Southwest District Foundation and the Past Lieutenant Governors Association (Roadrunners) will be replaced with a direct appeal to clubs for donations. The funds raised through this effort provide grants that directly support Kiwanis SWD and club projects that serve our southwest communities.

KCOTN Gets Grant From Roadrunners

Thanks to Secretary/Treasurer Bobbi Caley for securing a $500 grant from the SWD Past Lieutenant Governors Association (Roadrunners)to support our Thew Elementary Literacy Bag Project that we hold every year in December. Thanks to this grant, we will be able to go back and provide materials to grades K-3. Last year, because of budget shortfalls, we were only able to serve kindergartners and first grade.

Nuevo on the Road Again for Interclubs

Club members Bill O’Connor and Ray Devine traveled to Nello’s Pizzeria + Italian Kitchen to meet with the Kiwanis Club of Ahwatukee on July 2, 2026. It was a chance to meet up with old friends and meet the new members of their growing club. This was Nuevo’s first visit to the Ahwatukee club at their new meeting location.

Nuevo members will be making the journey to meet with the Kiwanis Club of Casa Grande on August 13th, 2026. Get the coffee started early because Nuevo members will have to get up at the crack of dawn to make the 45 mile trip for the 7:00am meeting time. Dick and Bobbi Caley have volunteered to provide transportation for any early bird that wishes to join them.
