Water Buffalos Are Once Again Migrating to the West
For the 11th year, the Nuevo Water Buffalos will be migrating out to Glendale to the Raymond S. Ellis High School, May 7th – 9th, for the 2026 Special Olympics Arizona Summer Games. Although this may be the 11th year at this venue, Nuevo members have supported these Special Olympic events for over 40 years by delivering water for participants, event staff, and all the people out to support these great athletes. Contact project chairman Dave Logan to sign-up to volunteer.

Nuevo “Scrambles” to Complete Another Interclub
As the Kiwanis’ current year marches forward, Nuevo members continue to visit other clubs in the Southwest District. Club members Nicci Poeschel and Ray Devine were out to Kiwanis Park for a second Saturday in a row, to complete an interclub with the Kiwanis Club of Tempe as they present their “Spring Scramble”, an annual event sponsored by KCOT for the children in our community. Over 800 kids and adults joined the festivities.
With more than 8000 plastic Easter eggs scattered across the field, the kids scrambled to gather as many as they could to redeem for prizes. Other activities included face painting and games, and of course, the guest of honor, the Easter Bunny was there to greet the kids.

Catch-A-Wave the Hottest Ever
Kiwanis Nuevo wants to thank the cars owners as well as our exhibitors and visitors for joining us at Kiwanis Park for our annual Catch-A-Wave Classic Car Show on March 21, 2026. Despite the threat of 100+ temperatures, a great time was had by all. Special recognition goes to “Best in Show” a 1928 Ford Tuder owned by Omanson and “Chairman’s Presentation”, a 1931 Ford Model A owned by Chris Rooney.
See all the other winners at our CAW web page.
Eighth Grade Scholarships Scheduled in May
Nuevo members will soon be visiting eighth grade award ceremonies in Tempe schools throughout the month of May to recognized outstanding students and handing out $100 gift cards to help with their high school fees. This has been a long-standing project for Nuevo as we go out into the community to recognize our future leaders.
Members should contact scholarship chairman Jim Bache if the wish to participate in this rewarding project.
